P40: The genius of Osvaldo Borsani at the service of relaxation

The Importance of Technology: we are in 1954 and Osvaldo Borsani is coming from the success of the sofa D70 proposed to the X Triennale.
A year before, he founded together with his brother Fulgenzio, the Tecno company squeezing the eye to the technology applied to Design.

Technology is really the base of this relax armchair with mobile elements. The P40 is truly a key technological review of relax armchairs that were designed at that time by architects of the Modern Movement.

According to Le Corbusier, absolute icone in the Design History "30 years have passed since the celebrated  "rest machine".

Borsani adds innovation to the myth

The classic chaise longue has been bypassed by this small-sized armchair that, while floating on the fan, it modifies both the inclination of the backrest and the footrest.

It's almost impossible for you not to find your best position on this armchair : We are in 1955 and relaxation is already served.

Actually the movement of the P40 variates from total relaxation to almost complete closure. 

The key element of this project is the mechanical joint that allows the P40 to be a movable armchair with a unique inclination gradient.

Universally appreciated, nowadays the P40 is displayed in numerous international museum. Some examples?
